The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) requires that an employee’s eligibility to work be verified by use of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9.
Beginning Friday April 3, 2009 employers are to use a new Form I-9 with a revision date of 02/02/2009. Changes to the Form I-9 include:
-
The addition of a new Citizenship Attestation for Noncitizen nationals;
-
Modifications to the Lists of Acceptable Documents;
-
No longer accepting expired documents; and
-
Other technical changes.
The new Form I-9 is available through a link on our website at http://www.amof.info/formi9-evp.htm .
While on this page, you may wish to review the benefits of E-Verify, which allows an employer to directly verify Social Security Numbers, Immigration “A” and I-9 Numbers through the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. This process is online, easy to use, and accurate. And perhaps, best of all, no testing or certification is required when accessing E-Verify through our web-based system.
