New Maryland Law Restricts Employer Requests for Social Media Account Access

The law (effective October 1, 2012) prohibits employers from requesting or requiring an applicant or employee to disclose login information for a personal account or service and prohibits employers from taking, or threatening to take, disciplinary action for an employee’s refusal to provide such information.
