Oklahoma and Louisiana Pass Social Media Privacy Laws

Oklahoma and Louisiana are the latest states to restrict employer requests for access to personal internet accounts.

The Oklahoma law is effective November 1, 2014 and Louisiana’s law becomes effective August 1, 2014.

Take Away: Employers with employees in Oklahoma and Louisiana should carefully review their policies and procedures to ensure that they are in compliance with the requirements of these new laws.
